Our year Down-Under

More than meets the eye

Just got back from the cinema. I swear that the bloke who works the ticket counter during the early morning shift thinks that I'm a pure weirdo. Every time I go to see the latest release during my days of during the week, I always get the same dude behind the glass looking at me like I'm a freak.

WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM BUDDY!!! I like to watch films with nobody else in the cinema with me. For those of you who haven't tried this before then I suggest you do. When I saw the original Spiderman a few years ago, I watched it at 10:30am on a week day in screen one of the Quay Cinema in Glasgow with not a single person there with me. Popcorn on one seat, Coke on the other and me in the middle with the full effect of surround sound and widescreen brilliance to be shared with nobody else. It was amazing and since then I've been hooked. Now I try my best to see things alone in an empty cinema.

Today was no exception. I went to see Transformers and I was stunned. It was incredible. OK, so the story was a bit lame although sticking to the original cartoons fairly well. However, the visual experience was like nothing I've seen since The Matrix. It was spectacular. My eyes hurt when I left and I'm sure that I burned my retinas and fried my optic nerves during the huge 2 and a half hour performance. I'll not spoil the film for you but this is a "must see" and may even merit a second view.
